Wayne Street, South Bend, IN. hereinafter referred to as the "PROPERTY." WHEREAS, the Historic Preservation Commission of South. Bend and St. Joseph County has recommended the designation of the PROPERTY as an Historic Landmark. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: S E.CT I ON 1. That the above described PROPERTY be, and it is hereby, designated and established as an Historic Landmark under Ordinance No. 5565 -73, as amended. SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approved by the Mayor and legal publication. Wayne Lot 2 Lister's Sub of Cottrell's Large Lot 23 historical notes Lot 2 Lister's Subdivision of Cottrell's Large Lot 23 was purchased by Sorden Listeil in 1881, as part of a tax sale of lots 1 -6. The following year Mr. Lister erected this one and one -half story Victorian cottage on this site, along with a similar house to the east. Both houses were utilized as income property. Mr. Lister belonged to one of the early pioneer families in St. Joseph County, arriving from Delaware in the 1830's. He served as a lst Ward Councilman, and Postmaster. He also operated a bootery at 77 Michigan Street. In 1898 he deeded the property to his daughter and son -in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. Mc Donald. They, like their father, utilized the property for income value. Mr. Mc Donald was a prominent photographer in South Bend. He operated the Mc Donald Studio at 211 South Michigan, which he inherited from his father. The Mc Donald's sold the home to Wm. Mc Henry in 1913. The present owners are Gregory Longbride and Daniel H.
