The meeting was called to order and Pledge to the Flag was given. ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, Voorde Absent: None Council Member Niezgodski made a motion to nominate Council Member Zakrzewski as President, seconded by Council Member Voorde. Council Member Soderberg made a motion to nominate Council Member Slavinskas as President, seconded by Council Member Slavinskas. Council Member Coleman made a motion to close nominations, - seconded by Council Member Voorde. Council Member Zakrzewski was elected as President by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg and Slavinskas). Council Member Coleman made a motion to nominate Council Member Duda as Vice President, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Slavinskas made a motion to nominate Council Member Soderberg as Vice President, seconded by Council Member Soderberg. Council Member Luecke made a motion to close nominations, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Duda was elected as Vice President by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg and Slavinskas). Council Member Luecke made a motion to nominate Council Member Coleman as Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Slavinskas made a motion to nominate Council Member Soderberg as Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Soderberg. Council member Luecke made a motion to close nominations, seconded by Council Member Niezgodski. Council Member Coleman as elected as Chairman of the Committee of the Whole by a roll call vote of seven ayes and two nays (Council Members Soderberg and Slavinskas). RESOLUTION NO. 1760 -89 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING ANN B. PUZZELLO FOR HER LEADERSHIP AS PRESIDENT OF THE COMMON COUNCIL FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1989. WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that Ann B. Puzzello was elected to serve as President of the Common Council on January 1, 1989; and WHEREAS, Council President Puzzello has fostered an image of providing quality leadership over a bipartisan Council, WHEREAS, one of President Puzzello's greatest achievements was overseeing the negotiations with the Fraternal Order of Police which resulted in a multi -year wage and benefit package being ratified; the first time this was ever achieved in recent memory; and WHEREAS, her caring attitude and unique ability to balance her constituents and colleagues concerns and request have made her a dedicated public servant that will long be remembered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly commends Ann B. Puzzello further success as she continues to serve the public as 4th District council Member in 1990. SECTION II. The Common Council wishes Ann B. Puzzello further success as she continues to serve the public as 4th District Council Member in 1990. SECTION III. This Resolution shall be infull force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
