AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $10,000.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED
TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE 1981
ETHNIC FESTIVAL, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT
OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes
the importance of ethnic groups in the history of the community
and wishes to encourage the promotion of the community's ethnic
heritage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THIS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The sum of $10,000.00 is hereby appropriated
for the year —from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly
referred to as General Revenue Sharing, for the 1981 Ethnic Festival.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Ad-
ministration and Finance as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval

Attached for your consideration is an Ordinance appropriating
the sum of $10,000.00 from General Revenue Sharing funds to be
used for the Ethnic Festival.
This appropriation will be used to fund a portion of the Ethnic
Festival. While this is the fourth year that the City has par-
ticipated in the funding of the festival, this amount represents
a cutback of $4,000.00 in our commitment from last year.
I would request the Council's favorable consideration of this
bill, and if any additional information is required, please feel
free to contact me at any time.
