The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council
to approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $56,000.00 from
the Zoo Endowment Fund to account 260.0, Other Contractual
Services.
The fifty -six thousand dollars is the sixth payment from the Muessel-
Ellison and Stanley and Flora Clark Trusts Funds for the construction
of the Educational Services and Wildlife Building at Potawatomi Zoo.
The trust funds has committed $380,000.00 for the zoo project.
Total payments received to -date from the trust fund is $261,000.00.
The Park Department appreciates the Common Council's interest and
help on the zoo project as shown by its willingness to appropriate
revenue sharing funds to complete the wildlife building.
I feel that when this structure is completed, South Bend will have
one of the finest small zoos in the Midwest.
Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated.
