The deduction removes the backfilling operation from this demolition contract. The scope of work called for the basement areas to be backfilled up to surrounding grades. However, the City recently awarded a bid to Indiana Earth for construction of a new parking lot (123-076A Beacon Health Parking Lot) and Indiana Earth expressed desire to perform the backfilling operations in the interest of guaranteeing quality work for the new parking lot. Indiana Earth is a local firm who specializes in earthwork and is better suited to take advantage of any breaks in the winter weather where work can be performed. The parking lot contract has an aggressive schedule, needing to be complete by the July 4t" holiday. This parking lot must come online before the City can begin their Madison Lifestyle District project with Great Lakes Capital at the existing parking lot south of the MarMain Apartments. A separate change order for this same amount will be executed with Indiana Earth after they receive Notice to Proceed and mobilize to the site to begin work. The next page shows the new parking lot.
