INDIANA 46601 Division of Engineering July 8, 1981 Members of the Common Council 441 County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 Attention: Councilman Serge, Chairman, Public Works Committee Dear Councilman: (219) 284 -9251 The attached is a proposed ordinance requesting an appropriation of $31,000.00 from the Cumulative Sewer Building and Sinking Fund to be used for the installa- tion of a storm sewer on Michigan Street from Colfax to LaSalle. The balance in this fund after this proposed ordinance is $1,496,019.44. The installation of a storm sewer in this area was planned under the downtown renewal project but was delayed due to uncertainty of what improvements were to be made in this block. This proposed improvement will extend City utilities away from the roadway so that any future development on the west side of Michigan Street will not disrupt the flow of traffic. Due to the anticipated increase in traffic after the opening of the First Bank Center it is imperative that all improvements be completed as soon as possible. Very truly yours, J.
