This program has just been approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. As you may recall, these activities were previously discussed with you at a Common Council caucus on February 15, 1981. At that time, you received a handout entitled Summary: 1981 Community Develop- ment Block Grant Application. That booklet may be a helpful reference for capsule descriptions of the project activities. In addition, you received in April a copy of the 1981 Annual Community Development Block Grant Application, as submitted to HUD. The ordinance before you reflects the activities and amounts as presented in that final document. The section entitled "Project Summary" should provide you with more detailed activity explanations. Should you wish further information, please contact me at your convenience. I expect to meet with the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee prior to final action on this Ordinance. I request your favorable consideration of this bill.
