GAMMON Clerk Bill No. ordinance No. g AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $40,000.00 FROM THE ZOO ENDOWMENT FUND, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EDUCA- TIONAL SERVICES WILDLIFE BUILDING AT POTAWATOMI PARK ZOO TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PARKS. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: WHEREAS, the Department of Public Parks would like to proceed with the construction of the Educational Services Wildlife Building as outlined in Potawatomi Park Zoo master plan. Funds are now needed for the required construction costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: Section I. The sum of $40,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the Zoo Endowment Fund for the construction of the Educational Services Wild- life Building. This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Public Parks as set forth below: Account Description Amount 260.0 Other Contractual Services $40,000.00 Total $40,000.00 Section II. Mc Gann, President South Bend Common Council 227 West Jefferson Boulevard South Bend, Indiana Dear Mr. Mc Gann: The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council to approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $40,000.00 from the Zoo Endowment Fund to account 260.0, Other Contractual Services. The forty thousand dollars is the seventh payment from the Muessel- Ellison and Stanley and Flora Clark Trust Funds for the construction of the Educational Services and Wildlife Building at Potawatomi Zoo. The trust funds have committed $380,000.00 for the zoo project. Total payments received to -date from the trust funds are $301,000.00. The Park Department appreciates the Common Council's interest and help on the zoo project as shown by its willingness to appropriate revenue sharing funds to complete the wildlife building. I feel that when this structure is completed, South Bend will have one of the finest small zoos in the Midwest. The new facility will be officially dedicated Saturday, April 4, at 10:00 a.m. All Council Members and friends are invited to attend the dedication.
