Dear Mr. Mc Gann:
The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council
to approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $40,000.00 from
the Zoo Endowment Fund to account 260.0, Other Contractual
Services.
The forty thousand dollars is the seventh payment from the Muessel-
Ellison and Stanley and Flora Clark Trust Funds for the construction
of the Educational Services and Wildlife Building at Potawatomi Zoo.
The trust funds have committed $380,000.00 for the zoo project.
Total payments received to -date from the trust funds are $301,000.00.
The Park Department appreciates the Common Council's interest and
help on the zoo project as shown by its willingness to appropriate
revenue sharing funds to complete the wildlife building.
I feel that when this structure is completed, South Bend will have
one of the finest small zoos in the Midwest. The new facility will
be officially dedicated Saturday, April 4, at 10:00 a.m. All Council
Members and friends are invited to attend the dedication.
Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated.
Very truly yours,
