RE: Emergency Work in City Right of Way
Background:
The City of South Bend (“City”) acting through its Water Utility, performed emergency water
mainline repair work at two locations:
1.Park Avenue and Lamonte Terrace
2. Rex Street and Ashland Avenue
During the course of this emergency water mainline repair, it was necessary for the City to
dislodge portions of the aforementioned streets to access and fix the water mainlines. While the
City workers were capable of fixing the water mainlines, they were unable and not qualified to
re-patch the brick surface of the streets. Accordingly, Premium Concrete Services was available
promptly and affordably to complete this emergency brick work on the streets so they could be
reopened to the public with minimum disruption.
The City is now asking that the Board of Public Works ratify the emergency work completed by
Premium Concrete Services in the amount of $3,870 for Rex Street and Ashland Avenue and
$6,800 at Park Avenue and Lamonte Terrace.
