STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Since the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration has been closed out, it is necessary for the South Bend Regional Police Academy to secure funds from private and public law enforcement agencies in order to continue its training pro- grams. The South Bend Regional Police Academy Fund is being established to collect the funds donated from other law enforce- ment agencies. These funds will be used for training, supplies and equipment necessary to continue the training programs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I. The South Bend Regional Police Academy Fund be estahe� to collect monies received for training programs. SECTION II. Funds may be expended from the South Bend Regional Police Academy Fund for training supplies and equipment necessary to maintain the training programs. SECTION III. Coffman has brought to my attention that approximately twenty -five (25) Law Enforcement Agencies have indicated desire to fund training at the South Bend Regional Police Academy. He informs me that approximately Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) has been committed by these agencies for nine (9) months of one day seminars in specialized police programs, beginning January, 1983. As you are probably aware former funds for this training was allowed through Law Enforcement Administration Assistance Grants, which has now terminated. Since the indicated monies committed by these agencies is in keeping with former operational funding grants, I would respectfully request that an account be set up for this vital opportunity to law enforcement.
