AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS AND NETWORK
COMPUTING CORPORATION FOR UTILITY BILLING
COMPUTER SERVICES
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Upon bids being let by the Board of Public Works for
utility billing computer services, Network Computing Services was
found by the Board to be the lowest responsible and responsive
bidder for those services. To increase the efficient operation of
the utility services, in particular the utility billing procedures
of the Bureaus of Water, Wastewater, and Solid Waste, the computer
services contained in the contract approved by the Board of Water
Commissioners are necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: The contract between the Board of Water Com-
missioners and Network Computing Services Corporation dated
June 7, , 1982, for utility billing computer services is hereby
approved and confirmed. Said contract is attached hereto.
SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval
by the Mayor.

The attached bill would approve a contract for data processing
service with Network Computing Corporation.
This five year contract will provide utility billing to the City
which takes advantage of current technology to provide an efficient
system to us and our customers.
The contract itself contains all of the information on service to
be provided, costs, and other pertinent information. It has been
reviewed by this office, the City Attorney's office, the City
Controller's office, and Crowe, Chizek and Company. As of this
filing date the final details of the contract are being discussed,
and the entire contract will be available for your review as soon
as possible.
