AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $90,000.00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY RE-
FERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR
SALARIES WITHIN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR
1982 TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE FIRE DEPART-
MENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Since it was assumed in the 1982 budget that there
would be a reduction of six (6) firefighters through attrition
and since only part of this reduction has been realized, it is
now necessary to fund part of the Fire Department salaries with
additional monies. These funds are now available in the General
Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council
of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
SECTION I. That the sum of $90,000.00 is hereby
appropriated for the year 1982 from the Federal Assistance Grant
Fund commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
This appropriation is to be administered by the Fire Department
and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force

the Salary Account of the Fire
We originally cut $90,000.00 from the 1982 Fire Department budget in
anticipation of retirements on the force. The money is available in
Revenue Sharing because we will not be spending all of the money in
the "Current Personnel" line item within the Fire Pension budget, and
we have received additional money from the State in pension relief.
