AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $7,176.66 FROM
THE SAVE -A -LIFE FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, FOR TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Funds are needed for the training of paramedics and a
rescue boat. These funds are now available in the Save -A -Life
Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $7,176.66 is hereby appropriated
as set forth below and will be administered by the Fire Department.
230.0 Instruction $1,300.00
726.0 Other Equipment 5,876.66
$7,176.66
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from a -�nc af-t-er its passage by the Common Council and approval
by the Mayor.

Dear Members of the Council:
This bill would provide for the payment of tuition for fire-
fighters and the purchase of a rescue boat.

The tuition would cover the cost of three firefighters to be
trained and certified as Paramedics. The purchase of a rescue
boat would provide a second and more reliable means of conveyance
for emergencies in the St. Joseph River.
