AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN LAYNE-
NORTHERN AND THE BOARD OF WATER WORKS COMMISSION-
ERS IN THE AMOUNT OF $32,000.00 FOR THE CON-
STRUCTION OF A WELL AT THE EDISON WELL FIELD.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
That bids being duly accepted and opened, approval of the
award of a contract in the amount of $32,000.00 to Layne -
Northern, the low bidder, is requested in order to construct
a well at the Edison Well Field.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That a contract in the amount of $32,000.00
between the Board of Water Works Commissioners and Layne -
Northern to construct a well at the Edison Well Field is
hereby approved.
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

There will be presented for your consideration at first
reading of the September 27, 1982 Council Meeting an ordinance
approving a contract between the Board of Water Commissioners
and Layne - Northern. The proposed contract is the result of
Layne - Northern being low bidder at $32,000 for the installation
of Well lA at the Edison Park Well field. As we have recently
had well #1 at Edison become plugged, the decision was made to
replace that well rather than reclean it. Funds are currently
budgeted in the Water Works Depreciation Fund for this work.
