4X0114, Leadership SBM was founded as a response to a growing recognition that effective
community leadership required more than just good intentions, it also requires individuals who
are well -versed in the challenges and opportunities unique to the South Bend -Mishawaka area;
and
N the founders envisioned a program that would not only educate participants about local
issues but also equip them with the necessary skills to address those issues effectively; and
Nato*from its beginning, Leadership SBM has been open to all and now, more actively than
ever, works to ensure that its participants properly reflect the community it serves; and
the curriculum focused on providing a comprehensive understanding of the region's
economic, social, and political landscape, and it still does; and
N SBM Leadership's 3,000 alumni have helped shape the future leaders of fifty years
ago, the current leaders of today and the future leaders of tomorrow; and
Nroleael, over the years, SBM Leadership has evolved to meet the challenges as those challenges
have changed; and
OXissAftsi, today, Leadership SBM has grown to offer several key programs that cater to different
segments of the population; and
Cithese programs include the Signature Class which immerses participants in all aspects
of the region's civic life, Emerge, a program which supports young professionals, and provides
them with the skills and networks needed to advance their careers, the Logan Leadership
