A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION AWARDED BY SOUTH BEND COMMON
COUNCILWOMAN OPHELIA GOODEN-RODGERS, SECOND (2"d) DISTRICT,
CELEBRATING THE 100TH YEAR MILESTONE OF NEW SALEM BAPTIST
CHURCH
Pastor Cary Baptiste, distinguished guests, esteemed members, and beloved community
members of the New Salem Baptist Church located at 141 Camden Street in South Bend,
Indiana; and
6Aremsky it is with great honor and profound joy that I stand before you today to celebrate the
remarkable milestone of the one hundredth (100th) anniversary of New Salem Baptist Church. As
the Second (2nd) District councilwoman, but more importantly I am deeply humbled to witness
this momentous occasion in the life of your church; and
liiianas One hundred years ago, a small group of devoted believers had a vision — a vision to
establish a place of worship, fellowship, and service for the people of our community. Through
their unwavering faith and tireless dedication, they laid the foundation upon which this church
stands today- a beacon of hope, love, and transformation in our midst; and
While we gather to commemorate this significant anniversary, we are reminded of the
countless lives that have been moved and transformed within these walls. From baptisms to
weddings, from Sunday sermons to community outreach programs, New Salem Baptist Church
has been a steadfast pillar of faith and a source of strength for generations; and
OffimaT4 Under the steadfast leadership and guidance of Pastor Cary Baptiste, this church has
nurtured the spiritual growth of its members while reaching out with compassion to meet the
needs of our community. Your unwavering commitment to preaching the gospel, fostering unity,
and serving others has inspired us all to live our lives with purpose and compassion; and
O, We reflect on the rich history of New Salem Baptist Church, let us also look to the
future with hope and anticipation. May we continue to uphold the values of faith, love, and
service that have defined us for the past century, and may we remain steadfast in our
commitment to spreading God's love and light in our community and beyond; and
On behalf of the Second (2"d) District Council woman and the entire community, I
extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every member of New Salem Baptists Church on
this momentous occasion. May God bless abundantly as you continue to shine brightly as a
guiding light and inspiration for generations to come.
