CITY OF SOUTH BEND.

A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
BEND, INDIANA, HONORING COUNCIL PRESIDENT ANN PUZZELLO ON
HER DEDICATED SERVICE DURING CALENDAR YEAR 1994
Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, proudly
acknowledges that Ann Puzzello served as its President during calendar year 1994; and
Whereas, during her 1994 Council Presidency, many difficult and challenging
tasks have been pursued such as being a positive supporter of the College Football
Hall and being at its groundbreaking, successfully overseeing the Police
Negotiations, and countless neighborhood programs; and
Whereas, through her positive leadership, she set a tone of open and ongoing
communications between Council Members, the Clerk's Office and Department Heads; and
Whereas, despite the many additional tasks she performs such as teaching at
Jefferson School and being a new Grandma, she took time to lobby in Washington, D.c.
with Mayor Kernan and Chief Marciniak and his staff, so that federal funds from the
Crime Bill would be available to hire ten (10) new Police Officers for the City; and
Whereas, this Council President also took time to ride in a squad car with he
South Bend Police so that she would have a better perspective and appreciation of
some of the many duties these officers provide daily, and she was a "Picker I" for a
day on the back of a City trash truck as it picked up refuse throughout the City; and
Whereas, she successfully completed a task which no other Council President has
every accomplished - -- replacing the carpeting in the City Council Offices - - -and
recycled the old carpeting by having it installed inside the Street Department
trucks; and
