GAMMON Approved and signed by me ORDINANCE NO. -1 13 1, - $ a AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7080 -82 FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE YEAR 1983. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Three new positions in three departments are being proposed. An Archivist /Researcher is being proposed as a full time temporary position to be created by a one year grant from the Institute of Museum Services to be administered by Discovery Hall. The Clerk Terminal Operator position is being proposed in the Police Department due to the change in duties of the Clerk I's and Clerk II's caused by the new computer installation. The System Specialist position is being created in order to adequately define the increased duties of some employees due to the new computer system for the utilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: SECTION I. That the position of Archivist /Researcher be added to Discovery Hall in the 1983 salary ordinance. SECTION II. That the position of Clerk Terminal Operator be added to the Police Department in the 1983 salary ordinance. SECTION III. That the position of System Specialist be added to the Water Works in the 1983 salary ordinance. SECTION IV. That from and after the first day of January, the maximum salaries for the following employees of the City of South Bend, Indiana for 1983 shall be as follows: 1983 Salary Discovery Hall Archivist /Researcher $12,500.00 Police Department C erz Terminal Operator 11,279.00 Water Works Systems Specialist 15,266.00 SECTION V. The Clerk Terminal Operator in the Police Department and the Systems Specialist in the Water Works are needed because of a change in job responsibilities due to the new computer systems in both departments. There will be corresponding decreases in other positions within these departments and there will be no increase in the budgets already approved for 1983. The Archivist /Researcher is proposed for Discovery Hall for a one (1) year period as a result of a grant from the Institute of Museum Services.
