authorization of the expenditure of such funds shall be void and of no effect.
PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Allocate $800,000 distributed between applicable districts for the City Hall renovation
and $100,000 for the City offices that will be in the Leighton building once it is renovated. Beyond the Leighton
building, distributed funds will support the renovation and upgrades on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
systems in the six-story tall former South Bend Community School Board office building for the City of South
Bend to utilize as their new City Hall including offices, meeting spaces, and support areas. These offices will
include RDC staff.
Total request is for $900,000 to allow project construction to proceed. $300,000 will be reimbursed back to the
RDC after last quarter appropriations in 2024.
SPECIFICS:
-$100,000 from River West Development Area for Leighton Building Offices
-$300,000 from River East Development Area for City Hall (Offices of Redevelopment Commission and Staff)
-$300,000 from South Side Development Area for City Hall (Offices of Redevelopment Commission and Staff)
-$200,000 from River East Residential Development Area for City Hall (Offices of Redevelopment Commission
and Staff)
