Marion Street Members marked with an asterisk (*) are present digitally Please note the attached link for the meeting recording: https://docs.southbendin.gov/WebLink/browse.aspx?dbid=0&mediaid=382880 Committee Chair Niezgodski called to order the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee meeting at 5:00 p.m. Substitute Bill No. 24-22-Resolution of the Common Council to Appoint the Board of Public Works and the Department of Public Works as Its Agents for Overseeing the Guaranteed energy savings Contact for the South Bend Wastewater Treatment Erik Horvath, Director of Public Works with offices on the 14th floor of the County-City Building spoke regarding Bill No. 24-22. The Bill is not for the Council due to the Board of Works having jersidiction. Rick Anderson, Account Executive with Veregy, the petitioning company, spoke in support of Bill No. 24-22. Rick Anderson stated that Veregy have done many similar projects across the state. This project will save money over time as it adds to the energy grid through renewable sources. Committee Member White thanked Erik Horvath for updating the Council on this project even though they are not the body overseeing this project. Committee Member Bolden-Simpson asked for clarification regarding how this project will save the City money. Erik Horvath answered that the City will be creating their own energy, not buying from the state. Erik Horvath answered five to six million dollars over twenty five million years. Committee Chair Niezgodski asked when would the project will start. Erik Horvath answered that the project will be started right away, it will be completed by July of 2025. Committee Member Bolden Simpson asked to use local labor. Committee Chair Niezgodski asked if a Request for Quote (RFQ) was done. Erik Horvath answered that they did to find Veregy, and they will need to comply with all local ordiances regarding labor. Committee Chair Niezgodski held the public hearing, and nobody spoke.
