AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING
$175,000.00 FROM THE MUNICIPAL
BONDS OF 1981 FUND FOR CENTRAL-
IZED COMMUNICATIONS AND STREET
DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to complete centralized communications, additional
funds are needed for remodeling costs and equipment. Also, funds are
needed for Street Department Equipment. These funds are available from
interest earned in the Municipal Bond of 1981 Fund, commonly referred to
as the General Obligation Bond.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I. That $175,000.00 is hereby appropriated from the
Municipal Bonds of 1981 Fund. This appropriation is to be distributed
as set forth below:

431.0 Radio Equipment 85,000.00
Total $175,000.00
SECTION II. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor,
and approval by the State Board of Tax Commissioners.

Dear Councilmen:
The attached ordinance requests the appropriation of $85,000.00
for use in construction of the combined communications center
and $90,000.00 for motor equipment in the Street Department. The
equipment to be purchased will be two large trucks and a cab and
chassis for Unit 11, the emergency vehicle. All the vehicles are
replacement vehicles.

The funds are made available as a result of interest earned on the
General Obligation Bond Issue. Total cost of the communications
center is estimated to be $251,000.00. Of this amount, $46,000.00
has been set aside as a regular part of the Bond Issue.
This appropriation obligates all the remaining interest money from
the Bond Issue.
