AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $32,500.00
FROM THE CITY CEMETERY TRUST FUND
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
FOR CAPITAL REPAIRS AND STRUCTURES.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to protect the wrought iron fence around
the city cemetery, it is necessary to install a guardrail along
LaPorte Avenue and Walnut Street. Monies are'also needed for
repair of the fence. Funds are available in the City Cemetery.
Trust Fund for capital repairs and construction.
NOW, THEREFORE,. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I. That'$32,500.00 is hereby appropriated
from the City Cemetery Trust Fund.. This appropriation is to be
administered by the Department of Cemeteries and will be distributed
as set forth below:

SECTION II. That this Ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council,
approval.by the Mayor, and approval by the State Board of Tax
Commissioners.

Dear Mrs. Becks
The Bureau of Cemeteries is requesting the Common Council to
approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $32,500.00 from
the City Cemetery Trust Fund.
Interest earned in the Cemetery Trust Fund stands at $50,902.00
as of this date.
Approximately $30,000.00 for the installation of a guard rail
along LaPorte Avenue (1245 feet); along Walnut Street (547 feet)
at City. Cemetery. This sum to be appropriated to Account 0417,
Other Structures. The bidding process to be administered by the
Board of Public Works.
Two thousand five hundred dollars will be appropriated to Account
0360, Buildings and Structure Repair, to reimburse the fund for the
large repair costs of the fence replacement in December, 1982.
Twelve sections of fencing were wiped out by hit and run drivers.
I feel that this request is a high priority item for the protection
of the historic wrought iron fence at the City Cemetery.
Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated.
