Bill No. 24-16 -Declaratory Resolution Real Property Tax Abatement 728 Harrison Avenue -Cross Community, Inc Mark Bemenderfer, Business Development Manager, with offices on the 14th floor of the County-City Building , stated that Bill No. 24-16 is a five (5) year single -family residential real property tax abatement for property located at 728 Harrison Avenue. The petitioner is Cross Community Inc., and they provide homeownership information to first (1 st) time homebuyers. Cross Community is planning to invest two hundred and seventy thousand dollars ($270 ,000) for the development of a new two (2) story home. Tina Patton stated that Cross Community is committed to redeveloping the northwest part of South Bend for residents seeking homes at an affordable price. Committee Chair Warner asked committee members for comments , and nobody spoke . Committee Chair Warner held the public hearing , and nobody spoke. Councilmember Karen White thanked Tina Patton and her husband for their commitment to South Bend . Councilmember Canneth Lee thanked Cro ss Community for taking on the challenge of redeveloping the northwest part of South Bend . Committee Member Sherry Bolden-Simpson thanked Cross Community for upgrating neighborhood s in South Bend . Committee Member Ophelia Gooden-Rodgers stated that she would like to see Cross Community expand their effort s into di strict two (2). Committee Member Bold en-Simpson motioned to send Bill N o. 2 4-16 to the Committee of the Whole with a fa vorable recommendation , which was seconded by Committee Member Gooden- Rodgers and carried by a vote of five (5) ayes with one (1) committee member absent.
