Committee Chair Sheila Niezgodski called to order the Public Works and Property Vacation
Committee meeting at 4:28 p.m.
(Substitute) Bill No. 18-24 -Right of Way Vacation -First 360'+/-Boland Dr. East of
Portage Rd.
Committee Vice Chair Karen L. White motioned to accept Substitute Bill N o. 18-2 4 , which was
seconded by Citizen Member Jason Piontek and carried by a vote of six (6) ayes.

Angela Smith, Danch , Hamer and Associates, 1643 Commerce Drive , South Bend IN 46628 ,
stated that Bill No . 18-24 seeks to vacate the first (1 st) three hundred feet (300ft) of Boland Drive
where it intersects with Portage Road, as there is no longer a street at the location , nor are there

any plans to change the street network of the location . This vacation will allow for the future
inclusion of a subdivision on either side of Boland Dri ve .
Committee Chair Niezgodski requested clarification regarding an alley approach .
Angela Smith stated that a previous version of Bill No. 18-24 included a section regarding an
alley approach , but that section has been removed .
Committee Chair N iezgodski held the public hearing , and nobody spoke.
Councilmember Tomas Morgan thanked Angela Smith for pro viding clarity regarding the text of
the bill.
Committee Member Canneth Lee thanked Angela Smith for clarifying Bill No. 18-24 to the
committee and to residents .
Committee Member Canneth Lee motioned to send Bill No . 18 -24 to the Committee of the
Whole with a favorable recommendation , which was seconded by Committee Member Dr.
Oli ver Davis and carried by a vote of six (6) ayes.
