Such compensation may "not be changed in the year for which it is fixed, nor may it be reduced below the amount fixed for the previous year." The following Ordinance establishes the annual compensation for each member of the nine-member South Bend Common Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: Section I. The annual compensation for each member of the Common Council of the City of South Bend in calendar year 2024 shall be and hereby is established as follows: 2023 2024 $21,320 $21,960 Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor and any publication required by law. Troy Warner Fourth District This ordinance proposes a 3%increase in Council members' salary from$21,320 to $21,960.This increase is in line with proposed increases for many other City Eli Wax employees. Fifth District In order to comply with the necessary three readings and public hearing,I ask that Sheila Niezgodski this be scheduled for first reading on October 9, 2023,and assigned to the Sixth District Personnel and Finance Committee for second reading, followed by third reading Karen L.White and public hearing at the full Council meeting on October 23,2023.
