Animal Welfare Commission Members Present: Christina Gerken, Becky Kaiser, Alicia Flores
City Staff present: Lindsay Cueller, SBARC Shelter Manager, Tom Panowicz – Attorney for SBARC,
Adam E. Taylor - Attorney for AWC, Elizabeth Maradik – Director of NSE
The meeting was called to order by Christina Gerken at 6:04:
1.Minutes for the meeting of June 2023 were approved by motion.
2.Review of Intake, RTO, and Rescue numbers.
3.Received information on decision in Anthony Angelo vs. City of South Bend, discussed effect.
4.Discussion on changing of wording for Section 5 of the ordinance concerning requirement
for veterinarian and making it a mayoral appointment. Discussion of sending a letter to
Councilman Wax concerning the proposed change.
5.Motion to adjourn approved.
