GAMMON —Z9 C) ORDINANCE NO.7 z1,20 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 5, SECTION 2 -53 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ENTITLED ENERGY CONSERVATION COMMISSION . .............. . STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The South Bend Common Council created the Energy Conservation Commission in order to better oversee the present and future energy needs of our community. When it was established fifteen (15) persons were designated and duly appointed to serve as Commission members. The Commission believes that its membership should be reduced to thirteen (13), and this ordinance incorporates that recommendation. It also amends the quorum provisions in light of the reduced membership. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. Chapter 2, Article 5, Section 2- 53(c), is hereby amended to read as follows: (c) COMPOSITION. The Commission shall be composed of fifteen. - {15) thirteen (13) members,- mine - {9) eight (8) of whom shall be appointed by the Council, and - six - {C) -five (5) of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor. The Commission shall be broadly representative of the community. Each member shall have either a professional interest or background in the area or have a sincere interest in the goals and objectives of energy conservation. SECTION II. Chapter 2, Article 5, Section 2- 53(e), is hereby amended to read as follows: (e) Compensation; quorum. All members of the Commission shall serve without compensation.
