SPECIAL PROCLAMATION NO. 17-2023
A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION AWARDED BY THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL TO
CELEBRATE THE DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT OF ELI WAX TO THE CITY.
Offwesis, Eli Wax moved to South Bend from Brooklyn New York when he was one year old; and
Ofiereaci, Eli is one of two practicing attorneys serving as Council 2011 members. He graduated from
the Ner Israel Rabbinical College with a Bachelor of Talmudic Law degree from the University of Maryland
Francis King Carey School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 2014; and
W e rea6, Eli's first elected office was as the 5th District member of the South Bend Common Council;
and
Oha, Eli was elected by Republican precinct leaders in November 2020, to fill the seat vacated by
Jake Teshka; and
G,/%lelrrQact, although Eli was the lone Republican on the Common Council,he worked constructively with
other Council members for the good of all South Bend residents, and more particularly, the residents of the 5th
district; and
01A irz4, Eli served the Council and South Bend citizens in many capacities including Chairperson of
the Health and Public Safety Committee, Vice Chairperson of Utilities Committee Vice Chairperson of the
Personnel and Finance Committee, and Vice Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee; and
G'/�'ere s, perhaps Eli is best known for his meticulous attention to detail and his insightful and probing
questions in his search for the best for South Bend residents.

Section I. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and the Members of the South
Bend Common Council, I am pleased to officially recognize and honor Eli Wax for his dedication and work on
behalf of the residents of South Bend.
Section II. We look forward to your continued involvement and leadership in the City through your
continued advocacy for the most vulnerable residents in South Bend in whatever other position you may choose
in the next phase of your community involvement.
