CHERRI PEATE NAMED NEW DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY
OUTREACH FOR MAYOR'S OFFICE

SOUTH BEND—Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced on Friday that his office has hired Cherri
Peate as the new Director of Community Outreach for the Mayor's Office in South Bend.
"We are thrilled to welcome Cherri to the office," said Mayor Buttigieg. "This administration has
put a focus on good government and customer service, and having such a qualified and energetic
team member who is strengthening relationships throughout the community will help enhance
our level of service and engagement for all residents."
A native of South Bend and a graduate of Washington High School, Cherri Peate is a dedicated
public servant whose passion is to serve her community. She received her Bachelor of Arts from
Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) in Sociology, a Certificate of
Completion in Program for Management: Community and Voluntary Services at All Hallows
College in Dublin, Ireland, and a Master of Science in Public Service Management from DePaul
University in Chicago, Illinois. At DePaul, she became a member of the Golden Key
International Honour Society.
"It is with great pleasure that I accept the position of Director of Community Outreach to work in
this administration," said Peate. "The support that I will receive from them will help me build
great relationships with individuals, groups, and community organizations in South Bend. I am
excited and pleased to work with such qualified people."
Cherri has received professional training in the areas of social media, branding, fundraising,
Victim-Offender Reconciliation Mediation, sustainability and innovation, policy design and
program evaluation. Her professional work experience includes Project Director, Consultant,
Statistician, Researcher, and Volunteer Coordinator.
