I would like to have the fence erected before we open the East Race in 1985 and would request the Council to approve the enclosed ordinance appropriating $40,000.00 from the General Park Fund to Account #0399.0, Other Contractual Services. The Park Department had a balance left in our 1984 budget which by state law reverts into the General Park Fund which could be used to finance the costs of erecting the fence. I am very much concerned about the aesthetics along the East Race and feel the proposed fence will not detract from the environment. We have installed a small section of the fence at the flood gates for review. Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated. Very truly yours, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIc_ PARKS :mes R.
