AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1, 600, 241. 00 FROM
THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND COMMONLY
REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING TRUST FUND
FOR THE 1985 POLICE AND FIRE PENSION COSTS OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
Additional funds are needed to supplement the 1985 budget
for police and fire pensions, as planned in the budget. Monies are
available within the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I . That the sum of $1,600, 241. 00 is hereby
appropriated for the year 1985. from the Federal Assistant Grant Fund
commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Administra-
tion and Finance and will be distributed as set forth below:

Dear President Beck:
Enclosed you will find an ordinance being filled for first
reading of the July 22 , 1985 Common Council meeting. The
ordinance appropriates $1, 600 , 241. 00 from the General Revenue
Sharing Trust Fund for the payment of pension costs during 1985
associated with retired Police and Fire Officers .
As you will recall , the use of Revenue Sharing funds to pay
pension payments was anticipated in the preparation of the 1985
budget. Those tax monies originally appropriated will be used up
during July and it is now necessary to appropriate the Revenue
Sharing funds to make pension payments the balance of this year.
