ORDINANCE NO. 7464-85
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $30 , 000 . 00 FROM THE
GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN CONNECTION WITH
CERTAIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES IN THE
INNER CORE AND OTHER AREAS OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, Indiana in creative and affirmative
partnership with its residents, private enterprise and the Federal
Government, is committed to the goal of expanding economic opportunitites
for all its residents. To further this goal, the City of South Bend funds
a variety of economic development activities. The technical assistance
provided by Project Future will enable the City of South Bend to pursue
those economic development activities in a more efficient and effective
manner, and
WHEREAS, the City can now estimate its miscellaneous reviews to be
higher than originally estimated for the activities of the general fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I. The sum of $30,000. 00 is hereby appropriated for the year
1985 from the General Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Administration
and Finance.

SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Dear President Beck:
The enclosed ordinance is being filed for first reading of the April
29, 1985 Council meeting. The ordinance appropriates $30,000 from
the General Fund of the City of South Bend as the City' s contribution
to Project Future for 1985 .
As you are aware, in addition to the City' s efforts in the area of
economic development, Project Future has supplied technical
assistance and pursued further economic development efforts of its
own.
The monies for this appropriation will be available because of an
increase in our miscellaneous revenue in conjunction with savings
obtained earlier this year through the budget cuts. The City feels
strongly that economic development efforts are in the best interest
of our community and therefore wants to encourage the efforts of
Project Future.
