AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $264, 000
FROM THE SEWAGE WORKS OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING UNANTICIPATED
EXPENDITURES FOR CHEMICALS AND ELECTRIC CURRENT.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the City has determined that there has been an
increase in expenditures in various line accounts at the Sewage Treatment
Plant; and
WHEREAS, the increases were not anticipated and budgeted for
in the electrical current and chemical accounts and these items are
necessary to keep the Waste Treatment Plant waste load within the required
Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana as follows:
SECTION I. The sum of $264, 000. 00 is hereby
appropriated for the year 1985 from the Sewage Works Operation and
Maintenance Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana as described below:
229 . 0 Chemicals $53, 000. 00
351 . 0 Electrical Current 211, 000. 00
TOTAL $264, 000. 00
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from the after its passage by the Common Council and approved by
the Mayor.

We are requesting an additional appropriation of $264 , 000
to the Sewage Works Operation & Maintenance Fund. Those funds
will offset increased expenditures in the Chemical and Electric
Current Accounts . These items were necessary for the sewage
plant to handle the daily waste load within required guidelines .
