ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $100, 000 FROM THE
GENERAL FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING GROUP INSURANCE
AND PERF (POLICE AND FIRE SHARE) EXPENSES WITHIN THE BUDGET
OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has determined that a reallocation of
funds within the General Fund is necessary relative to the Executive Order
issued in January 1985 ; and
WHEREAS, reductions were made within the budget of the Department of
Administration and Finance to facilitate capital expenditures within the
Fire Department, Street Department and Police Department; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that appropriations are necessary to
meet contractual obligations for Group Insurance and PERF expenditures
within the Department of Administration and Finance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA:
SECTION I. The sum of $100,000 is hereby appropriated for the year
1985 from the General Fund of the City of South Bend as described below:
Department of Administration & Finance
147. 0 Group Insurance $ 69, 258
148. 2 PERF (Police & Fire) 30 ,742
TOTAL $100,000
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval by the Mayor.

Dear President Beck:
The enclosed ordinance filed for first reading of the November
18 , 1985 Council meeting makes an additional appropriation to the
General Fund in the amount of $100, 000. This appropriation is a result
of the process started with the executive order issued in January of
1985 . If you will recall , reductions in almost every City department
were made in attempt to cut down fixed operating expenses . In turn,
I am requesting that appropriations in the amount of $69 , 258 to
Group Insurance, account 147. 0 and $30, 742 to PERF (Police & Fire)
account 148 . 2 be made to the Department of Administration and
Finance within the General Fund.
