Dear Mr. Bennett:
At its October 10, 2023 meeting, the Board of Public Works approved the above
referenced Change Order be increased by $182,800 with an additional fifty-six (56) days,
bringing the revised contract amount to $1,489,400 with a new completion date of November
15, 2023.

Monroe Circle Demolition
DATE: 10/03/2023
Change Order #1 alerted the Board to the presence of asbestos containing material contained
within the foundation slabs of each housing unit as they were demolished. Upon removal of the
foundation slabs, the Contractor discovered buried construction debris (bricks, concrete, etc.) at
approximately half the locations.
In order for the site to be redeveloped in the near future, the debris must be removed from the
site and clean backfill brought in. The cost to remedy this unforeseen circumstance is $182,800:
-Remove and replace 6093.33 tons of debris with clean fill @ $30 per ton.
The only scope addition to the project was added tree removal at a cost of $5,000. All other
added expenses to this project were unforeseen circumstances.
The project remains on track to finish within budget, approximately 6-8 weeks behind the
originally anticipated completion date.
