Honorable Council Members:
The South Bend Police Department respectfully requests that
an amendment to the 1986 Salary Ordinance be adopted by the Council
to provide for the civilianization of the position known as
Police Armorer.
This amendment to the salary ordinance, if adopted, will per-
mit the civilianization of yet another position traditionally
held by Sworn members of the Police Department. It is the goal of
the Police Department to civilianize several administrative and
clerical positions currently held by Sworn Police Officers.
The proposed yearly salary for the civilian Police Armorer is
$16 ,781 . 00. This salary would be funded from the existing sworn
officer salary account and would not increase the Police Budget.
Thank you for considering this request.
Respectfully submitted,
