AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $7, 000 . 00 FROM THE
INDIANA MAIN STREET PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY
THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE TO PROVIDE
MATCHING FUNDS TO CENTER CITY ASSOCIATES IN
CONNECTION WITH CERTAIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Funds will be used to match Center City Associates, Inc. funds
to contract for consulting services for the purpose of performing a
retail market study for downtown South Bend. The funds have been
made available from a grant from the Indiana Main Street Program
administered by the Indiana Department of Commerce.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. :
SECTION I : That the sum of $7 , 000 . 00 is hereby appropriated
for the year 1986 from the Indiana Main Street Program. This
appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Economic
Development and will be distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II : That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

Dear Council Members:
The attached ordinance appropriates $7,000 .00 that the City
received from the Indiana Main Street Program. These funds will be
matched by funds raised by Center City Associates, Inc. and will be
used to conduct a retail market survey of downtown South Bend. The
market study will be used to formulate a strategy for retail
development in the central business district.
I ask for your support of this ordinance and will be glad to
answer any questions you have on this matter.
