Persons in attendance included Council Members: Oliver Davis, Karen L. White, Tim Scott, Dr. David Varner, Henry Davis, Jr., Derek Dieter, and Dr. Fred Ferlic; City Controller Mark Neal, Director of Information Technologies Keith Crain, Systems Analyst Sue Gerlach, a member of the news media, and Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Scott noted that the Committee Members include: Dr. Varner as Vice-Chairperson, Gavin Ferlic, Henry Davis, Jr., and himself as Chairperson. A quorum was present. Council Member Scott stated that today the Committee will continue the "Ipad Rollout" by having a training session. He thanked members of the City Administration for all of their help and assistance, especially the City's Information Technologies personnel. He noted that Sue Gerlach and Keith Crain have been wonderful to work with on this project. Sue Gerlach provided a 6-page handout entitled "Council I-Pad Training Notes", and proceeded to demonstrate each of the applications on the I-Pad listed in the handout. She noted that the Ipads have 28 gig capacity, which is huge. Keith Crain noted that there currently is WiFi in sixteen (16) of the City's buildings, and they are working on having WiFi capabilities in all municipal buildings which have conference rooms. In response to a question raised by Council President Dieter, Mr. Crain confirmed that the City is in the process of reconciling the equipment current used in the police vehicles which raises a separate set of issues. Council Member Scott also demonstrated many of the features on the Ipad which he utilizes, and in particular those used when reviewing a Council packet. It was suggested that additional training sessions be scheduled, since today's session was so useful and informative. There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Scott thanked everyone for coming, and then adjourned the meeting at 6:15 p.m. ' rni 'a bmitted, Counci •• .er Tim Scott, Chairperson Information and Technology Committee Attachment
