AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 7666-86
FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY AND MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS
OF MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT
FOR CALENDAR YEARS 1987, 1988 AND 1989.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
On Monday, July 28, 1986, the South Bend Common Council passed
Ordinance No. 7666-86 which fixed the annual pay in monetary fringe
benefits of members of the South Bend Police Department for calendar
years 1987, 1988, and 1989 pursuant to I.C. 36-8-3-3 (d) .
Amendments are necessary to Ordinance No. 7666-86 and the following
bill addresses the appropriate amendatory language.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
SECTION I. Section II of Ordinance No. 7666-86 sub-section (c) (2)
is hereby amended to read in its entirety as follows:
(2) In the event that the offer made by the City Negotiating Team
is not accepted by the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 36
there shall be no acceptance bonus for either 1987 or 1988; however,
a non-reoccurring bonus shall be paid to all ranks listed in sub-section
(a) which shall be attributed to the annual salary for pension purposes
for that year and shall be as follows:
I. $300. 00 in 1987
II. $300. 00 in 1988
SECTION II. All other sections of Ordinance No. 7666-86 shall remain
in full force and effect.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor.
