The position will be funded from within current budgets. The establishment of a civilian communications manager represents a continuation of our efforts to further professionalize the dispatch operation and put more police officers on the street to serve and protect the public. A local and national search has been conducted in order to attract the most highly qualified pool of applicants possible. Serious inquiries, for example, were received from the local community and as well communities throughout the country because of the challenges and benefits associated with the- very important public safety job of managing the Emergency Communications Center. Please contact me if you have any questions about this matter. Your favorable consideration of this ordinance is most respectfully requested. Si. -rely, / l Craig 2 .
