Meeting June June 8, 2023

Animal Welfare Commission Members Present: Dr. Mariah Covey, Christina Gerken, Becky
Kaiser.
City Staff present: Linddsay Cueller, SBARC Shelter Manager, Tom Panowicz – Attorney for
SBARC, Kylie Connell - Attorney for AWC , Liz Maradek – Director of Code Enforcement.
1. The meeting was called to order Dr. Mariah Covey at 18:06 2. Minutes for the meeting of May 4, 2023 were approved with motion by Christina Gerken and
seconded by Dr. Covey. Hearing Minutes for hearing May 25, 2023 were approved with motion
by Christina Gerken and seconded by Dr. Mariah Covey.
3. Discussion of intake numbers at shelter for May, numbers are still up but staff is still handling by
working with rescues.
4. Lindsay has received permission from Liz Maradek for Becky Kaiser to Contact Eli Wax
Common Council member who oversees Animal Control/Code Enforcement to see if we can
expedite approval for Alicia Flores and Amanda Kovert Gonarth to Commission.
5. Next Meetiing will be both a monthly committee meeting and a hearing starting at 18:00, on July
13, 2023.
6. We will be holding a hearing on June 22, 2023 for a habitual offender case.
7. Motion to adjourn made by Dr. Mariah Covey, 2nd by Rebecca Kaiser meeting adjourned at
18:50.
