The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at 8:32
a.m. The meeting was held in the Board of Works Conference Room, 13th Floor, County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6. 1 (b)(6)(A) regarding
Disciplinary Action. Board President Patrick Cottrell and Board Members Eddie Miller, John
Collins, and Luther Taylor were present. Board Member Laura Vasquez was absent. Also present
was Attorney Andrea Beachkofsky and Police Chief Ronald Teachman. Board members did not
discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice. The
meeting adjourned at 8:42 a.m.
SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 6 2013
The Board of Public Safety met in a Special Meeting at 8:43 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013,
with Board President Patrick D. Cottrell, and Board Members Eddie Miller, John Collins, and Luther
Taylor present. Board Member Laura Vasquez was absent. Also present was Board Attorney Andrea
Beachkofsky and Police Chief Ronald Teachman.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Conference Room, 13th Floor County -City
Building, South Bend, Indiana.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
APPROVE CONTINUANCE AND SET HEARING OF CHARGES NO. 2013 -01— THEODORE
ROBERT
President Cottrell stated Mr. Robert's attorney requested a continuance of the Hearing of Charges
No. 2013 -01. He stated the next available date for everyone is March 25, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
Therefore, upon a motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the Board of Safety
approved the request for a continuance and set the Hearing of Charges No. 2013 -01, Theodore
Robert, for March 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Board of Works Conference Room, 13th Floor,
County -City Building. Ms. Beachkofsky stated she does not object to a thirty (30) day continuance to
allow for Mr. Grimes, Attorney for Mr. Robert, to complete his discovery and to accommodate his
schedule.
SET HEARING OF CHARGES NO. 2013 -03 — PATRICIA BYRD
President Cottrell stated Patrolman Patricia Byrd has requested a Hearing of her Charges No. 2013-
03. He noted the next available date for everyone is March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Therefore, upon a
motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr, Collins and carried, the Board of Safety set the Hearing of
Charges No. 2013 -03, Patricia Byrd, for March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Common Council
Chambers, 4th Floor, County -City Building.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Cottrell declared the meeting
adjourned at 8:46 a.m.
