HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-24-01 Public Works & Property Vacation tom-intact ort: VOW itiorko an Vropirrtt Varation Qtommitteu The September 24, 2001 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:57 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Coleman, Varner, White, Pfeifer, Kirsits, Aranowski, King, and Kelly;Gem L. Mezas, Carl Littrell,Jack Dillon, Robert Case, Terry Bland of the'ottthj Virra Irribunt and Kathy Cekanski Farrand, Council Attorney. Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 85-01 which is a request to vacate a portion of Campeau Street. Carl Littrell noted that the Board of Public Works sends a favorable recommendation (copy of report attached). Gem L. Mezas, the petitioner, made the presentation. She noted that the vacation is necessary since they are attempting to save an old maple and thirteen (13) feet are necessary to save the root system. Ms. Mezas stated that she is attempting to save the tree in order to save the integrity of the neighborhood. Council Member King stated that this area is in his District and he believes the vacation would benefit all property owners. Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member Aranowski that Bill NO. 85-01 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Under unfinished business, Dr. Varner noted that the Council should have received a memo from the Council Attorney on the Ticket Sales ordinance. He voiced concern about the letter received from the General Counsel's Office of Notre Dame and asked the Council Attorney to follow-up on this matter. The Council Attorney noted that she did not have input into what Mr. Hoye sent and stated that she would update the Council.
