wow-
committ 3o t:
*room! an f ittanct ommittoe
The July 9, 2001 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by its Vice-
Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 5:03 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Coleman, Kelly, Ujdak, King, Kirsits, White,
Pfeifer, and Varner; Khadijah Muhammad, Gary Gilot, Charles Leone,Terry Bland of the '01ttb
Ott$ aVibU1 U and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney.
Council Member Varner noted that the meeting was called to review Bill No. 54-01 which would
appropriate$320,00ofrom the self-insurance fund.
Mr. Charles Leone, City Attorney, made the presentation. He noted that there may be one (1)
additional settlement during the third quarter which would bring settlements to a total of$400,000
for the year, however with this appropriation funding should be sufficient. One of the largest
settlements involves the Whitt case against the city resulting from the accident of former Police
Chief Darrell Gunn which was settled through mediation.
Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member White
that Bill No. 54-01 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 5:05
P.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member David Varner, Vice-Chairperson
Personnel and Finance Committee
KCF:kmf
•
