The August 13, 2001 joint meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee and the Personnel
and Finance Committee was called to order by Personnel and Finance Committee Chairperson,
Council Member James Aranowski at 4:25 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, King, Ujdak and
Varner; Citizen Member Isabele Gonzalez, Bill Hoyne, Thomas Bodnar, Cheryl Greene, Jack
Colwell and Nancy Sulok of the OUt j ett� it-tribune, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand,
Council Attorney.
Council Member Aranowski noted that the joint Committee meeting was scheduled in order to
provide the opportunity to hear Bill No. 69-01 which would establish annual pay for members of
the South Bend Police Department for calendar years 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Council Member Aranowski noted that Mayor Luecke sent a letter to the Council President
requesting that "substitute Bill No. 69-01 be tabled until the August 19, 2001 special session".

There being no further business to come before the joint committee meeting, Council Member
Aranowski adjourned the meeting at 4:27 pm.
