HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-28-00 Community & Economic Development Commttt Wit: ommuititU an etottontit Vairloputtitt Qommitfr The August 28, 2000 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly at 4:15 pm in the Council Informal Meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly,King,Varner, Coleman, White and Kirsits; Citizen Member Isabelle Gonzalez, Cassandra Moran, Jerry Zock, Gene Oakley, Terry Bland of the 'outb Valb IGribuUU, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. Council Member Kelly noted that the only item referred to his Committee was Bill No. 00- 100 which is a five (5) year residential real property tax abatement request of Jerry Zock for the property located at 2215 South Olive Street. Cassandra Moran of Community and Economic Development reviewed her report dated August 22, 2000 (copy attached). She noted that Mr. Zock plans to construct a three-bedroom house of 1,100 square feet for approximately $ 50,000. The report concludes that the petitioner meets the requirements of§ 2-77.1 of the South Bend Municipal Code addressing Single Family Real Property Abatement. Mr. Jerry Zock noted that he owns a shop across the street. Once the home is constructed he plans to sell it. The home would be constructed on an infill lot. Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kirsits that Bill No. 00-100 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
