tommitttt *ort: <br /> '8onn i an antr finance tommttte <br /> The July 10, 2000 meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee was called to order <br /> by its Chairperson, Council Member James Aranowski at 4:30 pm in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer,Kelly,King, Ujdak, <br /> Coleman, Kirsits, and White; Bernie Kish, Jack Colwell of the '4111 I3 UD lErthun , and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Aranowski noted that the purpose of the Committee meeting was to <br /> receive an update from Bernie Kish on the College Football Hall of Fame. <br /> Mr. Kish provided information in six(6) basic areas: <br /> 1. Attendance The annual projection is 75,000. 26,700 has been projected with 26,454 <br /> actual. <br /> 2. Press Box Currently they are$ 18,000 ahead of projections. <br /> 3. Special Events There are a multitude of special events which include the Coach's Clinic <br /> each February; Legends Luncheons for the past four (4) years; and Irish <br /> Youth Soccer which has a spaghetti dinner at the hall for approximately <br /> 800 each ,''kyr L'ikcirr' <br /> Enshrinement is scheduled for August 11 and 12, 2000. <br /> 4. Traveling Hall: Makes appearances at local,regional and national sites. <br /> 5. Fall Activities: ND v. Nebraska will be the largest event this Fall. <br /> 6. Operations: A new restaurant "Jersey Mike's" will be operational by the Enshrinement <br /> Festival. Mr. Kish noted that the three (3) projectors are five(5) years old. <br /> John Penney is now working for the NFF with his position now being <br /> vacant. <br /> Council Member Aranowski suggested that Michigan Street be closed for the Nebraska <br /> weekend to permit safe walkways around the College Football Hall of Fame. Mr. Kish stated he <br /> would look into this suggestion. Council Member Aranowski also suggested that the city-owned <br /> garages also be contacted to make sure that the hours of service for each of the Notre Dame home <br /> football weekends be user-friendly. Mr. Kish stated that "Welcome Cornhuskers" banners were <br /> also being looked into by his staff. <br /> Council Member King inquired about the gift shop. Mr. Kish stated that he is discussing <br /> its operation by Follett with Pat McMahon. <br /> Council President Pfeifer suggested that the College Football Hall of Fame consider having. <br /> a corner in the IUSB Bookstore. Mr.Kish stated he would follow-up on that suggestion. <br /> Council Member Aranowski thanked Mr. Kish for accommodating the recent softball teams <br />
