The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. by President Perri.
CONSENT AGENDA
Perri entertained a motion to approve the consent agenda, including the 1) Minutes of the 2/17/22 meeting;
2) Claims 1/1/22 to 3/31/22 and (3) Financial Report 3/31/22. Randy Kelly motioned to approve; Greg
Downes seconded; and motion carried.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Perri reported on staffing changes. Rob DeCleene, Executive Director of Visit South Bend Mishawaka
(VSBM), is leaving to become Vice Chancellor at Indiana University South Bend. Philip Nadasdy , Executive
Director of the South Bend Museum of Art, is leaving to go to Chicago.
The Morris 100 campaign has exceeded $20 million in fundraising.
VENUES REPORT
Morris Performing Arts Center
Jeff Jarnecke reported that for 2022 the Morris has 89 shows scheduled with an estimated 3,570 room nights
and 22,327 in attendance as of 3/31/22. The South Bend Symphony Orchestra had almost 2,000 patrons 4-30-22
for the Pops concert. This is the first fiscal year that the Morris has operated as an enterprise fund and showed
positive performance) in 2022 Q1 revenue of $1,212,921(including revenue from shows.)
Michelle DeBeck retired in February as Morris Director of Box Office Services after 21 years. A new Director
of Ticket Sales and Strategies will be hired for the Morris who will work with promoters on ticketing strategies.
ASM Global is hiring an Operations Managers for the Parking Garages.
The Morris will be closed June 28 – September 30 for renovations. The old concrete floor will be cut and
removed out on a ramp over the stage, through the Backstage and out the loading docks. A new concrete floor,
2410 new seats, and new HVAC system will be installed. Over 30,000 lightbulbs throughout the entire building will
be changed to LEDs. Contractors include Ameresco, Tango Design, Frost Engineering – Larson Danielson, Irwin
Seating, Base Systems (sound/lighting/risers/IT), and Ratio Design (renders and cost estimate.) On Friday 9/30/22
and Saturday 10/1/22 the Morris100 outdoor free festival will be held with to celebrate the 100th anniversary
of the Morris.
Palais Royale Q1 revenue (including rent from Fatbird) is $39,172 less expenses of $57,478 with a net loss of
$18,306. This does not include the $25,00 license fee from Navarre Hospitality. The agreement with Navarre
Hospitality ends December 2022. The Palais Royale has 50 events scheduled in 2022.
Century Center
Jarnecke reported that Century Center served its largest luncheon of 965 meals at a recent St. Joseph
County Chamber event. From 600-700 people attended the Logan Center Nose On event. Century Center
had 1,418 room nights. New water heaters were installed and HVAC chillers were repaired. New 1G
dedicated Xfinity broadband was installed both at Century Center and the Morris. Century Center 2022 Q1
revenue of $4,140,055 less expenses of $870,201 leaves a net of $269,854. It is anticipated that accounts
will move from KeyBank to 1st Source Bank.

Parking Operations
Jarnecke reported Parking Operations 2022 Q1 revenue of $228,978 less expenses of 327,406 with a net
loss of $98,488. New Flash hardware and software solutions will be installed at all three parking garages and
will only accept credit cards. Flash has technology for a camera attached to a golf cart of vehicle to monitor
downtown parkers. There will be electrical vehicle charging stations.
OLD BUSINESS
Morris 100 Campaign Update
Greg Downes gave an update on the Morris 100 campaign. Close to $21 million has been raised with
approximately $250,000 pledged at the 3/23/22 event on the stage. Fundraiser events are also being held
8/26/22 featuring Dueling Pianos at the Ironhand Wine Bar and 9/26/22 featuring Second City at the Century
Center Bendix Theatre. Chuck Frye produced videos of Morris memories with so many people who have
emotional connections with the Morris. Aaron Perri thanked Greg and Mary Downes for co-chairing the Morris
100 Committee.
Naming Rights Review
Aaron Perri reviewed the Policy of the Civic Center Board of Managers for Naming Rights of Venues within
the Scope of Its Supervision and Management which would cover naming rights and donations toward a seat,
fountain, or other areas of building. Agreements are still subject to approval and the Civic Center Board of
Managers would approve donations in mass. The policy authorizes the Executive Director of Venues, Parks
and Arts to accept donations and then would report back to the Civic Center Board of Managers. A list of
sponsors will be distributed. The City of South Bend Legal Department will review all donation agreements.
The General Managers stated in the policy is the same position as the Executive Director of Venues.
Michael Neises motioned to approve the policy; A.J. Patel seconded; and motion carried.
