Purpose of Request:
This budget request of $300,000 will fund the engineering design for the 2023 Safe Routes to
School (SRTS) for Kennedy Academy [Project No. 123-017]. This project will improve walking
routes to and from school for Kennedy Academy students, including sidewalks and ADA curb
ramps. This project promotes walking and provides ADA accessibility to students traveling
to/from Kennedy Academy, as well as reducing drop off and pick up congestion. In addition to
Kennedy Academy students, other populations will benefit from improved connectivity and
accessibility of walking routes, including those with disabilities and the elderly. The project is an
LPA project, and it is 80% reimbursable by INDOT.
