HomeMy WebLinkAbout6B2SpI TH,g\ x Department of Community Memorandum Friday, February 08, 2013 Investment TO: Redevelopment Commission FROM: Jitin Kain, Director of Planning SUBJECT: Change Order for Data Realty Fapade Enhancement Design Services On July 26, 2011, the Redevelopment Commission approved a professional services contract with BSA LifeStructures for design services of the Data Realty fapade project. The approved amount was $77,500 with the understanding that if BSA Lifestructures were to be hired at as the architects for the overall Data Realty project then the fapade design fees would be discounted to $57,500. After BSA was chosen as the overall project architects by Data Realty, staff moved $20,000 from the project PO towards other fapade expenses upon Commission approval. The attached letter from BSA shows that additional expenses have been incurred by the architects on the fapade enhancement side of the project and are seeking reimbursement. Staff seeks approval to increase the BSA PO in the amount of $7,000 from the AEDA TIF. 227 W. JEFFERSON BLVD. South Bend, IN 46601 Re: Ignition Park -Data Realty Fagade Design South Bend, IN Dear Jitin: I stopped by Data Realty yesterday to take a look at the corrections with the Loading Dock for Rich and Tom. We will be working with Turner to further find a better resolution over the next few days. As for the rest of the building, things look pretty good and only a few more Punch List items remain to close. DR was having the last of their professional photos taken, yesterday. The previous batches are very good: there are some good aerials. We will have to check with Rich if we can use some in future for Ignition Park marketing material. As the project comes to an end, we are in the process of closing our books and wrapping up our project billing. We would like to send a billing to you for our Additional Services beyond the discounted price for $7,000. The original Proposal $77,500 was approved by the City for the Fagade Improvement Project. A discounted fee of $57,500 was included if BSA were to get the architectural component of the building itself. The discount was approved with the understanding there would be duplicated services and reduced coordination between the two projects. As a result of the project path during the bidding and construction phases, no reduction of coordination or duplication of services materialized, as both parties initially hoped. Additional Services beyond discounted price: • Separate Fagade Bid Package • Second Fagade Bid Package • Separate mock -up review trip • Separate Punch List • Additional efforts to monitor and track scheduling for SH with TC • Extended services beyond DR finish date BSA LifeStructures looks forward to continuing to provide high quality services on the many opportunities we have discussed with yourself and others at the City. I have attached our original Proposal for reference. Sincerely, Billy Ponko, LEED AP Project Manager
